I find it to be filmy, and not gel-like. It doesn't act all like p21s, so I mean eh, i think the title needs to be changed.

I tried shaking it up a lot though in the 1 gallon jug, and I could've sworn it felt like a gel like substance inside....then I could see it was just bubbles and foam from all the shaking.

Still, I'll have a serious test for it later when I home detail a heavily driven daily driver.

Re: DP Gel Wheel Cleaner

So considering that the P21s Gel is kept for the wheels that are very bad, what would everyone recommend as a weekly cleaner for the well maintained vehicle.

Re: DP Gel Wheel Cleaner

Judging by everyone's comments here, the DP Gel is not actually a gel.....BUT IT USED TO BE and that's what people prefer. Why was it changed? The older formula seemed better. Anyone??

Re: DP Gel Wheel Cleaner

Something to consider when comparing the DP and P21S Wheel cleaner gels is that the P21S Gel is designed to dwell on the wheel surface for a longer period of time. I got this from the label:

3. Spray fine mist of P21S Gel over entire wheel. (For heavily soiled wheels allow to stand for 15 min. to 2 hours).

The dwell time that is recommended by P21S is the reason for the thicker viscosity. The DP Gel Wheel Cleaner is designed to spray on, agitate and then rinse off with no dwell time required.

The DP Gel Wheel Cleaner is water-based and this allows it to be a thinner viscosity gel that can spray a very fine mist.

Concur 100%. The old DP Gel was a thick gel. It seemed like one spritz per wheel would spread over the whole surface of the wheel. I preferred it to P21S for the way that it spread and coated the wheel. When the DP Gel became more of a watery solution I immediately switched back to P21S or anyway in the process. Got an order on the way. It won't be as cost effective.
