    Chamois question

I just received a "Prince of Wales" premium grade genuine chamois 2.5 sq ft. Directions said to wash before using in mild soap with warm water. So I opened the package and without even looking at it I popped it into the soapy water. Now when I pulled it out to rinse it I noticed that it is shaped somewhat like the state of Idaho. All the previous chamois I have bought were from the local auto parts store but were somewhat rectangular in shape. I usually lay the chamois on the car and pull towards me but with this odd shape that will be difficult. Did I get a 'bad one' that needs to be sent back or is this what I get with the premium grade?

    Re: Chamois question

I have seen all different shapes and sizes in real chamois. That said, remember it has no knap for drying which means any sand under it could become abrasive.

    Re: Chamois question

I left those behind a while ago. I've been using the cobra waffle weave towel. First the little one and now the bigger one. I can do the whole car without wringing it out - in fact you couldn't get any water out if you tried, it holds that much. I've had it for two years and it's still holding up well. It dries fast and doesn't get stiff.
