Metal flake restored(test for posting from phone)
Stubborn and looking for away to post pics from phone that are not thumbnails. So this is a test.
Mid 80's metal flake bass boat that I had to do a patch and remove oxidation and restore the rest. Hope finally this works. Not to bore anyone with more of my boat work, but I need to figure out how to do this from my cheap phone. I think I am getting close

Almost. Still have an extra thumbnail but I think I know what happened. So much easier if my pc was up and running. But I persevered! Thanks for putting up with my posting
Re: Metal flake restored(test for posting from phone)
Can you do a little write up on products used and the steps u took on restoring the gelcoat. I am going to tackle my toy hauler soon and i want to get a better idea.
Re: Metal flake restored(test for posting from phone)
Wow. The gel coat looks like it was heavily textured in the before pics.
Re: Metal flake restored(test for posting from phone)
Trust me when I say you aren't boring me with boat work! Nice recovery on that! Give us some more details on your magic! Were you just removing oxidized gelcoat, or did you start getting into the flake?
Re: Metal flake restored(test for posting from phone)
Thanks guys. Some of the texture and the yellowness was a failed bandaid fix. I didn't get into metal flake in this boat. On the old flake when you do it turns silver. When I shoot flake now it is actually polyflake and comes in all shapes and sizes. You can get a good match.
Here is a boat that I did get into the flake. The worst I ever revived actually. He couldnt pay to have the top resprayed to he just said do your best and what happens happens. So important to protect metal flake as you only have so much material to work with

Have to go work. There are a lot of write ups but perhaps I can do another when I have more time. ThanksOK
