New lighting for garage... feedback welcome please!

I want to upgrade lighting for garage ceiling. I have 2 dual 48" flourescents now. Should I just add more of them or go to halogens or something else. I can easily place 8 lights total. Feedback please! TIA!

If it was me, I would add more fluorescent's. The Halogens might make it too hot in there, I would think.

I have 4 48" double flourescents in my 20x20 garage and it's lit well.

I added 3 dual 48" flourescents about a month ago. Put in the 6500K daylight bulbs and changed my plain bulbs in my 2 eight footers to the 6500K's and man it is like the sun is shining in my garage I have them hooked up to a remote control so with the push of 1 button all 3 lights (48" ones) go on

Jim a few more fixtures won't hurt if you have the room as far as halogens I suggest you keep them to the portable type so you can move them around. As your vehicals are probably in tip top shape they won't need correction work...but for me I work with overheads off and halogens on to do correction work....just a thought!

How big is the garage? I have a 14 x21 and I have 5 4' T8's and they light it very well. Our shop is around 1000 sq ft and we have 14 T5's and 6 T12's and it is VERY bright.

I find that fluorescent lights are only good for general lighting, not for detailing. I find they cast too many shadows.

I have 5 48" fluorescents in my garage and would like even more. They are efficient, don't cast many shadows, and they don't throw off any heat. I like to keep a super-bright halogen stand lamp around if I really need some extra light.
