    A.C. for garage

Hey guys its been hot lately here in Chicago. I want to buy an a.c. but don't know what to get for my garage. It has one window and my garage isn't big.

I measure the length estimated 236 in and width is 118 in
These are estimate that I measure.

Which is a decent one to control temperature and humidity.

I have a client here in Florida that has a small window unit a 2 car garage, and it cools it nicely. The garage door panels have been insulated to keep the space cooler.

Sounds like a single stall garage. Are the walls, ceiling, and all doors insulated? If not, you'll need to take care of that first or it'll be difficult to cool the space. What kind of power is available just for the AC? Many garages have a single 15 amp circuit for the entire garage, which won't work well if the AC has to share the circuit with anything else.

A garage doesn't always need a big, expensive AC solution. I installed a small 110VAC window unit (around 6,000 BTU, IIRC) in my 20' x 20' insulated garage. I didn't have or want a window in the garage, so I framed an opening and built a casement for the AC. My climate is similar to yours, and it cools down the entire garage nicely. I can wash a car outside and pull it in for drying on hot days.

Better check the price and power requirements on one of those bad boys before you get too excited.

I believe the ductless systems are not "self install" units.

I don't believe my walls are insulated.
