Menzerna Polishing Compounds of Germany has set new standards for workability, uniformity, performance, and quality. Why else would Mercedes Benz use Menzerna polishes to perfect the finishes on their brand new vehicles?

Heavy road tar removal

The highway department just covered the road in front of my house with tar and stone chips. I cannot get the stuff out of the treads on my tires and the wheel wells. I don't want to park in the garage until this is taken care of. I used tar remover to get the tar off of the paint but I don't want to drive and sling the remaining goo onto the truck. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Diesal fuel or kerosene...thats what road crews use to remove tar....it will not harm the tires....wipe them down good and then wash with a dawn mix....will work on both areas...just soak a rag and start working it....the wetter you keep the rag the better it cuts it...we had a tar & gravel road for years here...and I went thru it also...

PS....you may need a cheap scrub brush for the treads to get inside them....

Thanks - I think I'll try the Stoners, I'm not very comfortable with diesal or kero.

OK guys - I'll give kero and a stiff brush a try and report back. Thanks again for the info.

Here is an excellent review by Al417 that fits your situation to a "T".
