OptiSeal, 360, & Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion

Hey everyone,

I have some questions about OptiSeal, XMT360, Pinnacle's Paintwork Cleansing Lotion, and Liquid Souveran.

I'm using the 360 on all of my vehicles for the cleaning and sealing and I think it works great. So on to the questions:

1. When using 360, OptiSeal, and Liquid Souveran - what is the best order of application? 360-OS-LS, or 360-LS-OS? Or is it not worth using the OS at all because of the sealants in the 360?

If it matters, I'm looking for protection from bird stains and water stains but a very clean wet look (thus the LS) and don't care so much about how long it protects since I generally re-detail the cars every 2-3 months at most (except in the winter when I'll switch to the Klasse Twins or keep the car clean with Optimum NRW & AquaWax/Spray Souveran).

2. Is there any benefit to using Pinnacle's Paintwork Cleansing Lotion before or after the 360? Based on the description on AG it is basically a cleaner and the 360 should have that covered. I have a fairly new car (<1 year old) that I don't want to run the abrasive polishes except when I need to.

Thanks!

I'd just use XMT 360 and liquid Souveran. There is no need to Opti-Seal in this case. Skip painwork cleasning lotion too.

It's my understanding that XMT 360 and OS do the same job (final polish/cleaning and a layer of sealant).
Paintwork Cleansing (final cleaning, no sealant); then use your own sealant.
Then LS over either for your last step.

Thanks for the replies. Two follow-up question though:

Is XMT360 and/or Klasse AIO abrasive? More abrasive than the Cleansing Lotion?

If the car's finish is in good condition (its been kept well, washed correctly, sealed, QD'd regularly, and the paint doesn't need correction (is that a pipe dream?)) but you want to polish and seal it for the looks/protection what is your best combination? Or am I confused and if such a car existed you wouldn't polish it anyway?

I've tried using the Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze without using AIO first and it didn't seem to last more than a month. It was topped with Meg's Gold Class though and parts of the car didn't bead after a month.

Can you tell I'm still learning??

Thanks.

If Opti-seal is the clear final liquid sealant, you could use it before or after liquid Souveran. 360 would remove it as would paint cleansing lotion, so use one or the other first.

Klasse AIO / Sealant used together should show 6 months protection minimum. A little sterile, but using a nice qd'er after each wash will make up for any lost depth and gloss.

Megs Gold Class is more of an all-in-one wax and has some light cleaning. It is those chemicals that likely reduced the effectiveness of SG. Use a pure carnanauba like Souveran , SS, LS, Maxwax, or Nattys.

Bandgeek99 please disregard what I said re: XMT 360 & OS working the same. For some reason I was thinking Poli-seal rather than Opti-seal. I apologize. Sure hope it didn't mess anything up.

Opti-seal is the final sealant. Is there a general preference as to whether to top the LS with Opti-seal or topping Opti-Seal with LS? Generally the wax is always on top, right?

Thanks for the info, that sounds like the best explanation for what happened. Will the Klasse Sealant without AIO last 6 months?

I gotta say I get confused!!!

If XMT360 is a cleaner/sealer, I don't see the point of resealing atop a sealer with nothing in-between. So my vote is XMT360, wax of your preference, then another sealer to provide additional longevity to the wax.

But if one likes the deep mirror/glossy/wet look, it would seem to me that a sealer will diminish that effect... So how many layers of wax is too much, and/or is there a sealer that preserves or deepens the mirror look instead of flattening it?

As I recently found out, XMT360/Liquid Sovereign/Opti-Seal did like nothing for a fresh bird stain; I had to XMT3 the hood twice to get rid of the etching, then XMT360 again, then Liquid Sovereign again, then Opti-Seal again. But now I'm back to where I don't think I have protection from the next malicious fowl to cross my skies, so I'm still worried!
