Lake Country Orange Pad question

Just wondering about how many uses should I get out of a LC orange pad before it starts to lose its effectiveness. I used my orange pad on three vehicles that really needed it. I did 2 entire vehicles and on one I used it for about 2/3 of the vehicle. I went to use it on my truck which would have been the 4th vehicle and it did not have the same effectiveness as with the other 3. Now my truck was probably in the very best shape of the 4 and the pad was least effective on it. I will tell you that the 3rd vehicle was a Bronco that was in rough shape so the pad probably took a beating on that one.

Also I clean my pads after every use with XMT pad cleaner soak them and then wash them out by hand. Is there anything I should be doing different in the care of my pads or another product I should be using?

That's interesting, I'v eused my orange Lake Country pad many times now and seems to be working just fine. I too cleam all my pads with XMT pad cleaner. I usually soak them and let them sit for a bit then I agitate with my fingers and rinse.

I wonder if others have having this problem.

Interesting

I've never had a pad lose it's effectivness other than the velcro backing falling off. It seems like you are cleaning properly... which was what I would suggest changing but no need to... IMO the foam on the pads don't wear out... they are extremely durable. The backing and other parts of the pads could cause an issue in the future but not in this situation.

Could this just be a perception problem? Since you used it on different vehicles, the swirls on the Bronco may not have been as deep as the ones on your truck, making it seem like the pad was not working right when the swirls may be deeper than you are used to.

I usually toss after 6-8 uses. More of a personal issue, than pad giving up. Clean them properly, store in baggies after dried, and they seem to keep there umph for quite a long period of time.

I have also used orange LC pad numerous times. They get a little tore up after a while but still work fine.

I've noticed that on 2 of mine. The side look a little rough, but the pad works like it should...

Thanks for the info guys. Maybe as budman said it was just my perception as to the effectiveness of the pad. I'll give it another shot and see how it goes. I was primarily concerned that I was not cleaning properly but seems as though I'm doing that right and glad of it.

One thing I wondered about is that if the orange pad has some "cut" to it then wouldn't the friction from use cause some of the cut to be worn away thus reducing it's effectiveness. I guess I am thinking along the lines of like sandpaper. If you use it long enough it will not have the ability to "cut" anymore. I can see where the gray and blue pads would almost last forever and not lose their effectiveness but the orange pad just seems like it couldn't be as effective the 5th time as it was when it was brand new. Maybe someone can explain to me how it can. Thanks.
