Dust

Do all rubbing compounds produce dust? I have tried 3M, Mequiers, and Optimum and they all seem to produce a lot of dust... are there any on the market that do not do this?

I haven't used Optimum's products too much, I just got them. However I have gotten NO dusting from both OC and OP. I have gotten very minor dusting from XMT.

Umm if your getting dusting from Optimum your doing something wrong, Optimum is all I use and never got any dusting. I think your the 1st person I've seen post that? One of the main characteristics of Optimum is no dusting. I've worked Opitmum for up to 10 minutes with no dust issues, XMT dust a little but not as much as others like Poorboys or 3m etc.

If you get dusting, are you prepping the pad before using? Try spraying water or QD when you think dust is about to start, and it will prolong your working time.

I think any product that turns to talc/powder consistentcy will always have a little dust when removed. A quick wipe down is always a quick solution.
