Newbie who wants some help with a black car

Hey guys, I am new here but have been lurking for a long time, and I was hoping I could get some advice on what to do with my car.

Its black with the usual swirls, minor scratches etc... But also along the bottom near the wheels there are many small imperfections from stones being kicked up on the highway, also on the front of the hood, and front bumper. I dont think that polishing will do much for these, so I was wondering what is a good product for filling imperfections to make them less noticeable?

Tomorrow I can ake pictures if that helps, but its raining today.

Is there a good swirl/ scratch / stone chip imperfection removal technique that does not require me to buy a 7424? Does the stuff like megs scratchX work at all or is it a waste of money?

Scratch X will work on very light swirls, and will also work out your arms. You WILL be tired after it. 7424 allows you to do work only Superman could do by hand. If you aren't super particular and have a lot of time, Scratch X could work for you, but I highly suggest saving your pennies for a PC 7424.

Dont think there is anny polish that fills the chip holes one the car. You need to fill`em with paint.

Thanks those are some helpful posts! That chip filling one is good but I am curious, should I buy a solvent on my own or order some of that no-blob stuff made for this?

Oh yea also when I said "fill" I actually was referring to filling in swirls etc... Like, if I were to use say klasse AIO then a glaze, then a sealant, would the glaze/ sealant sort of fill in the swirls in the clearcoat making them much less visible?

Sorry I havent gotten around to posting pics, we had decent weather today actually I was just preoccupied. But I promise when I do post pics they will be very good, I am quite into photography and will get very close and take some serious macros of the problem areas.

Hey there. Welcome to AG!

Firstly, in order for us to help, we need to see what kind of swirls you're working with here.

Secondly, get a PC. I was like you when I was a n00b, I wanted to avoid getting a PC because I thought that I didn't know what to do with it etc. Buying the PC will be the best investment you'll make!

As for the swirls, you can remove by hand, but not all of them, just the light ones. You might like to try Meguiars ScratchX. That was made for defect removal by hand.

Washing and drying techniques play a big roll in maintaining a good finish. You will get light swirls even by using good tools and techniques, but then the swirls will be easier to remove! Have a browse on the AG store, especially at the PC kits.

What about brand new dark gray metallic paint? The car is 4 month old, washed few times by my hands. I didn't noticed any scratches, oxidation or anything like that.
Which products should i have to make my car shinnig like a mirror ?

I dont know about washing with your " hands "

My suggestion is using an all white Shmitt to wash, and the Cobra Guzzler to dry. I find that using Meguiars Gold Class comes up nice on dark metallic paint
