| Help for Black Accord hood
My sister sent me these pics of her car's hood. She was in an accident over a year ago. The hood was totaled and had to be replaced. Few months ago she started noticing these marks on her hood. She describes it as looking almost like a film, or even milky in certain areas. Looking at it from different angles, shows up more defects. The hood feels smooth over the affected areas. I haven't seen it in person yet. She said it's smooth and not scratched up. After a wash and spray of detail wax, it's almost hidden for a few days.
I'll be getting the PC/XMT combo kit soon. Hopefully, something can be done to the hood.
Any advice? Thank-you in advance. Area in this pic is on left half of hood. Area is on top half of hood here. Closeup of defect

That would be paint failure. Take it back to the shop that repaired it and have them do it again RIGHT. She should also contact the insurance company involved and let them know that the work wasn't up to par and see if they can offer any assistance.

That's not the original hood. It's a new hood. Paint failure can still happen that quickly?

Are you certain that hood was a new hood? It's hard to say without seeing it in person, but I'm sure others will chime in soon, but if it is paint failure then the body shop will need to deal with it. Definitely get the insurance involved. Sorry to hear that. I had my own body shop nightmare recently too so I feel her pain. |

A new hood is not going to come from the factory painted. From what can be seen in pictures I would go with CC failure.

Thanks for the info/diagnosis everyone!! This site/forum is AWESOME!! I'll tell her the news.
She has been impressed with how my wife's car, and my SUV are looking lately. And that's thanks to this Forum and you men & women with all your knowledge that I try to absorb
My sister was looking forward to me detailing her car's exterior when I get my PC/XMT. To tell you the truth, I was looking forward to see what I could do to bring back the shine to that hood. But alas!
Thanks again everyone.
