Is this common on black??

Black Rav4 in fairly good shape. I have been over it a few times in the past year with the UDM and various pads and polishes. If you look at the top of the doors and fenders under the right angle of light it looks hazy. I don't have access to one of those halogen light stands YET!! The truck looks great in the shade and most sunny spots but this is annoying me. I usually finish with a white pad and XMT#1. Am I not working the polish long enough? I do have a black pad should I be finishing with that combo?? Help me learn.

TIA, Pat.

Re: Is this common on black??

Try something like XMT #2 with a polishing pad, then XMT #1 with a finishing pad.

Sounds like you might need to make a couple of more passes. Like you said, the polish might not have broken down fully. The hazing you see is probably marring.

Re: Is this common on black??

Here is a sample of what I am talking about. Swirls and such I understand from washing and general use but there is a milkyness in the paint which drives me nuts!!!!!!!

See from a distance not really noticeable at all. You know what they say looks good from 60ft. I want good from 6 inches.

And some areas still look pretty good to me. I think the reflection is pretty good for a daily driver!!!!!!!
