Also, the workshops sound like a great idea.

There were a couple of demos that showed how to buff out a scratch, but next time I'd like to see a beginner workshop where the goal is to take a car that's in bad shape and polish out the scratches. It doesn't even have to be the whole car. Maybe just the hood. Most of the demos were on cars that were in good shape, so you couldn't really see a transformation.
I saw Totoland Mach was detailing his rental Shelby that was in pretty poor shape, but whenever I stopped by, I missed when he was doing something I was interested in seeing.

Maybe some more hands-on stuff for the spectators. I had some with Aaron @ Edge and it left a good impression. | Do remember what machines Aaron had? I remember the Flex, PC, Cyclo and I know he had another that you could select the head movement on. I just can not remember.
Boy am I getting old!
Thanks |

A better video feed for those of us who couldn't make it would be great. I couldn't get a video feed all day! |

Thanks | Now don't hold me to this but I think that the one that could be switched orbital to rotary was a Makita. It also seemed that the orbital side was forced rotation (like the Flex). Or, it may just have been my interpretation. Hope Aaron comes to post. |

It was indeed a Makita. I was asking about it (from the guy doing the demo on the black Mercedes, sorry I don't remember his name) because it intrigued me. Looked like a pretty cool piece of machinery. |

| | | Re: What did you think of DF III? This is the third DF that I have attended, it keeps getting bigger and better each year. I would have loved to practice my fledgling rotary skills on a beat up hood or a neglected car - with pointers from someone who knew what they were doing. One of the impromptu demos was the System One guy polishing scratches out of the rear plastic bumper of a black Porsche. He was bearing down in one spot long enough to make me queasy, but when he pulled up the scratch was gone and the paint looked great. I have a long way to go... | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
