| Re: Are all wash soaps the same? Sodium laureth/lauryl sulfate is sulfonic acid and sodium
Makes suds
Other ingredients in almost all soaps/shampoo's - cocoamidoethanoline or similar short name
Coconut derived - don't know what purpose it serves
Jeff's Werkstatt does not contain sodium sulfate which is good as that can weaken sealant/wax over time, dry out the paint after a while (effects slickness) and cause black trim pieces (textured) to go white and specky
Plant based surfactants (surface active agents) would be a better choice than chemical
Their are differences in brands. I find almost all boutique shampoo's to resist hard water due to water softeners in the formula
I found Four star ultimate shampoo to be a little harsh on soft and hard exterior trim pieces, textured ABS plastics and slickness of paint and glass
Still a top shampoo. Especially if you own a Subaru WRX (different plastics than Aussie Fords and Holdens)
Optimum old formula had no sudsing power or enough lubrication for my liking
Pinnacle was too alkalinish
Poorboys is nice and Driven to Perfection Wash Concentrate is too as it contains gloss enhancing oils that don't wash away, slickness enhancers and a percentage of the same sealant thats in their auto polish product (non abrasive)
Buy yourself some pool PH testing strips and test each shampoo you buy
Firstly in the bottle and then when mixed with water in the bucket
PH level should be between 7.0 and 7.5 to 7.8 maximum
I've seen PH of 6, 5.5, 8, 9 and 11 with shampoo's
Meguiars washes were the worst.
NXT is too strong, soft wash gel leaves stains on some single stage paints
Needs machine polishing to fix
