Coscto canopy?

Anyone own the 10x20 canopy from costco? im not sure the brand. It took a good hour to set up and im wondering if I should go for a 10x10 instant canopy they have instead. Got a little wind yesterday and man was it unstable (30-40mph wind gusts). I have an asphalt driveway and it comes with a type of stake(8) that open up as they get tightened. Im leaning towards the caravan instant canopy since I could easily put it away if the weather is bad enough. I'll be using it on details in the rain since my garage entrance only allows for a small sedan (very tight still).

The one from costco? Caravan canopy I believe. Can you put a yukon under it without touching the roof?

Re: Coscto canopy?

Ya I use it for small cars. Ya you will need the bigger for full size cars and trucks.

Re: Coscto canopy?

I have that 10x10, and use bricks as well. That said, on really windy days, it doesn't even come out. I'd imagine 30mph winds would wreck havoc, even with some stability at the base of the posts. Those things are pretty flimsy. FWIW, a neat trick I learned....those nerf 'snakes' (or whatever they're called) that kids use as swimming pool toys...if you cut along one edge, they'll wrap around the posts and provide a bit of protection when (not if, when...seriously) the wind kicks up and the darn thing bangs against the car you're detailing.

In terms of size, for anything but really small cars, it makes for awfully tight confines. At that, depending on the angle of the sun (or wind), I still find myself moving the vehicle at least once. I'm not sure if any vendors still make a 12x12, but I used one a truck show once, and it was awesome. Along with the extra width/length, it was also quite a bit taller (maybe 1' or so?), which is really nice.

Re: Coscto canopy?

I have used a couple different sizes and used HD/Lowes cheapie buckets filled with playground sand (available by the bag in garden section) to keep them from moving. You can also get cheap pipe insulation to slide over the legs to keep them from scratching anything if the tent moves or if you open a door into them etc. they come with adhesive on them but it fails easily so I just used black duct tape. I attached the legs to buckets with bungee cords. The buckets make it easy to pack up at quitting time.

I also saw another guy that had lids on the Lowes buckets and he cut holes in the top and put the legs in the buckets.

Re: Coscto canopy?

Thanks for your feedback guys. Any idea how well this canopy would hold up being staked down on asphalt? It has 8 legs with one of these peices to screw down per leg came included. It open up as you screw it down to the ground and is about 3-4inches long.

Coscto canopy

I would have replaced the canopy if I could get just the canopy. For the Airfield FMS Trojan T28, I could only find it with the foam cockpit and pilot. Im not to the point yet where I want to get all of that too.
