5.5" or 6.5" hd foam pads?

Which size do you prefer and why? and do they both fit on a 4 3/4" Lc flexible backing plate. Its for the makita rotary. Im probably gonna get the three pack I'm thinking the hydro tech ones are the way to go.

Re: 5.5" or 6.5" hd foam pads?

Its nice to have both size pads but the smaller pads are easier to handle where as the larger ones are nicer for horizontal surfaces .

Both pads are probably ok on your backing plate but the 61/2 may have a tad bit more overhang then ideal.I dont ever use 6 1/2 pads so maybe some one else who does will post.

The hydro tech pads are really nice but you must not over saturate them or use them damp/wet or they can shred and not last long at all. Also they take longer to dry after you clean them .

4 3/4" backing plate may be fine with 5.5" pads.

You need 6" plate for 6.5" pads.

I would get the 7/8 pads vs the 1.25 inch .

I made the mistake of getting the thicker pads and found them harder to controle on the rotary.
