Backing plate & pads for SP 18VA

About to buy SP 18VA, which backing plate, brand and size pads do you recommend? I also have the Flex 3401 so it would be good if the pads fit both machines.

Personally I prefer smaller, 6.5" pads, on rotaries. That also gives me a benefit of being able to use them on my Flex 3401 and my other tools too.
