edge flex adapter

Now that the flex dual action polishers are in, is there any news about when we can expect the edge adapters?

I saw the video of one being used, but I never heard when they will be available.

Re: edge flex adapter

Oh, one more question. In the video after the conversion kit was put on, the guy started the flex without it being in contact with the surface. Does this kit make it possible to do this with no harm being done to the machine?

Of course you would never do this with the PC or any other orbital.

I saw an Edge adaptor for the Flex backing plate at DF III. It was a prototype and not yet in mass production. One would think that it should be available soon.

Re: edge flex adapter

I believe Aaron offered they are working on it as fast as possible. Appears they brought the Makita to market this week. Hopefully the Flex is next !

Re: edge flex adapter

With its imminent arrival the next question would be just which of the Edge pads work best with the Flex. Guesses or bets, anyone?

Re: edge flex adapter

Well, I didn't like my Flex DA with 7.5" curved CCS pads and I made sure those were centered. I'd guess the 6" Edge pads, whatever style, would work best.

Most experienced detailers, me NOT being one of them, will tell you they've gotten better correction with smaller diameter pads, whether it be rotary or DA, or so I've read.

I don't see the Edge Flex adapter changing that. If anything it finally allows the use of smaller pads for the hard to reach areas.

Re: edge flex adapter

As of yesterday there were 4 for sale on his personal site. I picked one up and will be reviewing it in the next week!

Flex is balanced for 6" pads and manufacturer does not recommend using bigger than 6" pads. 6.5" is not far enough from recommandation to bother over but 7.5" is definitely too far and poor result is to be expected.
