Foam Gun Questions ...

Hey guys ... The one thing that I do not have is a foam gun. The more and more I read about them ... The more and more I want one. I am thinking about buying one ... So ...

Should I get the quart? ... Or is the extra $10 worth it to get the half gallon?

I also would plan on getting a gallon on DP Xtream Foam.

Also ... After I "foam" down ... I still would want to use the traditional two bucket method to wash, and just use the "foam" as a really good "pre-cleaner" so to say.

I have Pinnacle Body Work Shampoo ... So would I just "foam" down with dp, then go on to wash like I normally do?

Should I rinse after the foam ... or what?

Any and all comments are welcome, since this foaming is new to me

-Mike

Re: Foam Gun Questions ...

I think a half gallon gun would be overkill, but it may depend on the size of the car. Since you're only doing a pre-soak and then using the 2 bucket method, the quart size should suffice. From my experience, even pre-soaking and then using the foam gun in one hand, spraying the car with the Ulti-Mit following, the quart size is enough.

However, my quart foam gun doesn't like to stand up by itself, but that's probably because I've been only been putting an ounce or two of soap in it, heh.

Re: Foam Gun Questions ...

I also had the same question about size? I know that SIZE DOES MATTER (Some say no but I hear them talking in private!) But when it comes to foam guns is the quart size big enough for a single car? To me the half gallon seems kinda big!?!? I am going to purchase a foam gun but i dont wanna get into the bigger is better mentality? And advice?
Thanks!

Re: Foam Gun Questions ...

From what I've heard, and I'm not sure if this applies to the quart or half-gallone size...you fill the container at least 1/2 or 3/4 full with hot water, add 2oz. of DP Xtreme Foam, shake that puppy up, set the bar to the highest setting, then go to town with the foam.

It's so much fun...when i first used my foam gun, incorrectly I might add, I wanted to shoot everything up and down my street with foam, LOL. My incorrect procedure was to put about 2-4oz of Poorboy's SS&S in the bottle, set the bar to the 2nd or 3rd hole (3rd might already be the middle setting) and spray away. Needless to say, my 32oz. of PBSSS didn't last that long, heh.

Half-gallon seems too big for a weekend warrior doing a single car. Hopefully others will contribute their thoughts as well.

If you already have a pressure washer, I'd look into getting a foam cannon for the lance (or whatever it's called). If I had one, I'd be shooting all the neighborhood squirrels and the backyard neighbor's incessantly barking dog.

With the bar at the highest setting ... Wont that take it all out VERY fast?

Re: Foam Gun Questions ...

I added a Dramm 300 shutoff to mine and its perfect. Never need to add more than 1/2 setting for soap. Some of the best are Duragloss, Zaino, Poorboys, and DP for a nice foamy presoak.

Re: Foam Gun Questions ...

So how much soap to water in the canister itself does everyone recommend?
Also ... what setting should I run the needle at?

Re: Foam Gun Questions ...

I fill quart canister up with water first, then add around 1-2 ounces of soap at best. Swish around and leave at middle setting.
