got paint on my other car, whats your opinion

somehow paint got on my other car and theres splatter on the roof, trunk, and spoiler. It's an oil based paint. I'm thinking of taping off each splatter and wet sanding with 600 grit to get it down a little then using an orbital buffer to finish it off with a mild agressive pad (orange edge pad) and meguiars swirl remover to start off, then if it needs more then meguiars fine-cut remover. On one of the spots I taped it off and tried using the red rubbing compound and it brought it down a little, but for me to do that on each spot would take days so I'd rather wet sand them down making sure their taped off properly so I dont wet sand good paint.

I feel for you my friend. How did it happen, you must have some idea. Will your insurance co. cover the damage? Sorry no experience doing that kind of removal. Good Luck!

If it has not been on there long you could probably polish it off especially if you had a nice wax of sealant on the paint before it happened.

By accident I wound up with an order of aggressive clay. It will micromarr paint even with a lube. I used it once to take out a run of latex paint. The marring then polished out. I know that agressive clay is out there.

I would try clay before going at it with sandpaper. I don't know if you have an aggressive clay but I have heard 3M makes a aggressive clay just for paint mistakes. And shouldn't you start with somthing like 1500 before jumping to somthing like 600? I have never wetsanded, but 600 is more than any body shop I have ever seen use.

I think it happened at my girls house, but anyways i will try the more agressive clay first then the 1500 grit, thanks guys. I'll post results next week!

clay bar wont work, I ended up wet sanding the top of each blob off with 600 then once I cut the top off I used 1500 then 2000 to get rid of the paint. now there's a sanded pink mark, what should I use for this? polish? the whole trunk needs to be polished with a buffer too which I'll be doing with meguiars final cut and probably the edge orange pad, if that isnt enough to get rid of the faded paint on the trunk then I'll use a more aggressive pad, is that the right approach? what should I use for the wet sand marks that look dull and pink? thanks for your advice

I've pulled gobs of road paint off with solvent and plastic razor blades

Really laquer thinner...mmm..it's not to hard on the clear coat? Very interesting, good to know. Thanks for sharing.

I did a vehicle that had little specs of white paint, I'm guessing white fence paint and Clay Magic (red one) managed to remove it completely. It left losts of marring on the vehicle but it removed everything on it.
