road lime/cement splatter removal
Auto Detailing ForumDiscuss road lime/cement splatter removal in the Auto Detailing Forums forums; Any products or tricks on removing road lime/cement splatter from paint surface?...
be very careful with cement.... it will scratch the paint bigtime if you remove it improperly... i dont wanna give any wrong pointers so that will have to suit you for now
warm vinegar is what I use on that kind of thing. Soak a rag in vinegar and set it on top of the affected areas. The vinegar will loosen up the concrete and allow you to pick it off easier. I had a friend get sprayed with concrete and the contractor's insurance cut him a check for $380 bucks to remove the overspray. I used the vinegar technique and charged him $200.
The warm vineger did not work on this stutuation. I am looking at a commerical product named Back-Set, wiil try and report. Anyone out there has worked with this product? My concern is that it will stain the plastic air dam on this "new" truck.....
Well apparently, Set-Back does remove cement from surfaces and does what the product claims as I experimented on other surfaces, but, what I thought was a combination of lime and cement is not after all! That lives me to wonder what on earth was splattered by a road construction tanker truck. Tex-Dot has no answers why the splatter won't come off. Anybody out there with that kind of experience—highway construction? It seems that the product removed it from the paint surface and the smooth plastic parts, but nothing happen on the textured surfaces. Its like trying to remove a freckle from ones skin!
