Hi everyone new to this site and really enjoy all the useful reviews and information on it. I was wondering if anyone has used there hands or fingers to apply wax? I have heard people say that you get a better feel and a more even application. Mike... |

I use my bare hand to apply wax when I am using Zymol. It definitely allows me to get a better feel for the paint. However, I also use many other brands of other wax which I apply using a foam applicator. Some brands of wax you really don't want to get on your hands and IMO it's really unnecessary to apply them bare handed. The Zymol (and maybe one or two other wax brands but that's it) is kind of chunky and needs the heat from your hands to melt before it can be applied smoothly.

I usually prefer to apply a paste wax using a foam applicator. I prefer MF applicator pads for liquid waxes and sealants. I don't ever bother to use my PC to apply wax. IME it doesn't speed things up or improve the result. So, I don't see the point.

| | | I don't really like the idea of applying wax by bare hands, and reason why is - every carnauba wax uses a solvent (kerosene or such) and having it on hands is not a good idea. Just my $0.02.

The real reason for using the hand method as apposed to the pad method is becasue of the solvents in the wax. The pad will absorbe some solvents, this means that the amount of wax applied at the begging will not be the at the same level as the end. The added solvents will decrese durabilty and looks.
I do however have alot of waxes that I apply with an appliactor, it really just depends the mood i am in.
Im not sure i buy the whole need to use the palm of your hands but the logic does make sense. So lthough companies like zymol say its "needed" it is not actully.
If i were you i would giveit a shot, it is a little trckey at the beggining but once you do it a few times it works awsome. i enjoy doing it, allows me to get a better feeling of the paints condition so i know when a full deteil is soon needed | | |
