winter detailing

What kind of heater do you guys use in the winter months, since my garage is a double car width, it is not heated right now since I don't detail in the winter, but this winter I would like to start, I would like electric heat, any suggestions or tips?

Re: winter detailing

I know its a silly question to ask in the summer, but here in Canada winter can creep up quickly. Does anyone use theie garage or all of you have a shop?

Re: winter detailing

I just detail my own cars, but where I live (S.E. Missouri) a portable kerosene heater works great. i just need to make sure I have decent ventilation.

Portable Heavy-Duty Workshop Heater
If you have a lowes in your area. Some people in my neighborhood have these. I live in a townhouse complex, so like you I need electrical heat. I wish I could vent a hole for a gas heater. At least this one has a thermastat. You can keep it at 40 degrees F or up to 90F

Cool Re: winter detailing

I have a kerosene heater also it does work very well. One of the problems that I have is condensation on the car when you are trying to detail it. The reason being is when you turn your heater on and off it gets hot and cold. Don't get me wrong it still can be done but the moisture factor will slow you down. Like others said, don't forget about the ventilation, window open, door cracked anything that will let a little air in!!!
Killrwheels, you are avery funny man. You crack me up !!!

Hurricanes ...its only wind and rain. Coming from the windy city you already have 1/2 the equation. Hows the tornados in your neck of the wood ?? It has to rain here everyday, how else can we fill the Lake in order to water all the peoples, wash all the cars, and provide the unending commercial uprising that fails to fill even one basic shopping center. Of course the fact that Miami and now Broward fail to speak English as the common language hurts but asking me about property taxes and home insurance, that truly would make most of us wish to move North.

I need a drink !
