2 quick polishing questions....

1. After using Menzerna 106, do most of you stop there, or do you use 085RD (I have a Honda) or 115 afterward to get more gloss? Or is using 106 enough?

2. For those that polish in a garage is the general feeling that two 500W halogen lamps (the kind you see at Sears, the 1000W on a tripod) enough to light enough of an area of the car and show swirls well enough? Is a 1500W overkill?

Thanks,
Howard

106FF and 106FA finish down perfectly and never really seen the need for addtl finish polishing. I supose you could really jewel the finish.

The problem with those lights is going to be the heat they generate. Your gonna want a fan or a/c with them after some time.

You could stop there or as killr said if you want to amp the finish that much more I would go over with 85RD. As long as you are using 106ff/fa with a blue finish pad also, if not you want to go back over it with either your 106's or 85rd on a blue pad.

1)It wouldn't hurt, but you don't have to.

2)I use two 500w haologen lights on a single stand. It doesn't get to hot for me and I think it provides adequate lighting on top of the garage lighting for finding defects in the paint and correcting them fully.

oh, so you're saying use 106 with white pad, then 106 with blue pad...that sounds better, more cost effective.

so, what's the alternative? Can't do it outside, as I have no trees near my driveway, I have no idea what power to try for an LED light, etc. I guess I can open both garage doors to let out as much heat as possible.

You can do that, that is fine. If you do want that little extra then spring for the 85rd. The lights will work just fine in your garage, I actually use more lighting than that.

Re: 2 quick polishing questions....

I would go with the 85rd after the 106ff as it will finish down with more gloss. Remember its 90% prep and 10% LSP. You already spent a great deal of time and effort to get the paint as best as possible, why not spend just a little more time to get it perfect.
