Before You Polish

Should something be put on the car before polish? After the car is washed and clayed is there a product that should be used to remove the wax, etc? Or, will applying swirl remover with a PC do the job?

polish which is abrasive will remove any old wax that clay missed, and any sealant. Just extra work to do anything else first ....

Killrwheels is dead on about this. Once washed and clayed. Any polishing
with chemical or abrasive will remove and sealants or waxes. Once polished
to your satisfaction. Seal in that shine with sealant or wax. Just to chime
in for a second opinion.

I think it just removes something that could induce more swirls. I am sure
that polishing would remove anything that clay would. I think it's kinda like
taking off some dirt before you polish. You would not want to plolish with
some dirt that will not break down. The abrasives in polish do break down
into finer particles. Rail dust and dirt will not.
