Menzerna Polishing Compounds of Germany has set new standards for workability, uniformity, performance, and quality. Why else would Mercedes Benz use Menzerna polishes to perfect the finishes on their brand new vehicles?

Swirls swirls swirls

Walking to my truck at my office parking garage today. Started looking at the paints on other cars lol. OH MY GOD, the lights in the garage really showed the flaws. I'm talking bad. Forget the normal cars, I looked at the paint on a nicely modded Porsche Turbo and even Aston Martin DB9 convertable and it was swirl city. The worse though was black 360 Modena Spyder. Holy crap, it looked like somebody used a steel wool pad on the paint. I'll bring my digi cam to the office tomorrow and see if I can get pics if their there.

But my white suv looked flawless, along with an older yellow Ferarri 355 that looked like the owner took good care of. It was just crazy seeing the high end cars that look like they had been only taken car of by the porter boy at the dealership.

Anybody else just walk by cars and notice all the defects now with teh detailing bug

I know what you mean Surfer I notice allot of that when I walk through parking lots and garages. To me it seems that the average car or truck is better taken care of than the more high end vehicles. I kow if I had the money to buy one of the vehicles above I would still detail my own vehicle.

All the time.
My sister used to have a 64 and a 63 vette and Stingray, now she has a killer 68 camaro, she has won every darn show around with it. My point is, she has always meticulously maintained her cars. The other day I was looking and it had lots of swirls, not bad, but nonetheless...I asked her about them and she said she couldn't see any! My point is, how crazy are we? That car wins shows left and right w/o trying and I know I could make that finish look 20% better! And heck no will she ever let me touch it!
For the record, she uses good metal polishes (chrome out the wazoo), but her polishes and waxes are your typical otc like Turtle and Mothers. Not knocking those brands but there is definitely variosu levels of quality products.
I have no clue what I'm writing about now.

Saw the same on a buddy's DB9 today. I think I hurt his feelings, though, by pointing out the swirls and scratches. I should have shut up. He just bought it about two months ago and already "his guy" has swirled it for him. I'd love to spend a day on that car getting it back up.

Damn Surfer, does ANYONE in your neighborhood drive a normal car? Jeez......must be nice!!! lol

I mostly check other cars out while driving....half the time I'm looking at the car next to me rather than the road Now that's bad! A woman that I work with and her husband just purchased a Dodge Hemi--Daytona truck(with the black fin which I think is UGLY) that is the "rust" color, or burnt orange color and I told her that I could definitely make it look even more amazing and deeper, but she says her husband is SET on Mother's products, and doing it by hand! I saw the truck and it had swirls galore, even as new. I even offered to do it for nothing but a lunch. Oh well, maybe someday she'll come around

I have to wait a half an hour outside for my son's school bus to come pick him up and I feel like I know every dent, scratch and swirl on my neighbor's cars intimately! I'm detailing 2 of them soon as my son goes back to school and at least then there will be 3 nice cars in the lot! lol

Hey Black Coupe, you could offer to detail it for him as a birthday present. I did that with my mom when I did her car for the first time. I just said, "hey mom, why don't you let me wash and wax your car for you" lol Anybody will agree to a wash and wax. And I clayed, cleaned the paint, polished, glazed and waxed and she almost keeled over when she saw it. I didn't have to point out that her car was a mess, I just offered to clean it for her. She saw the difference in it afterwards and she all on her own realized the condition her paint was in without my ever having to say a word.
