Re: Please help me....what's wrong with my paint and how can I fix it?

Thank you all for your input. I appreciate it. I feel a little better now knowing that Honda didn't clear coat the car to begin with rather than me ruining the clear coat. I know my father and I compounded the car a few years ago and then waxed over it and I thought maybe somehow I had removed the clear coat by compounding it but to my surpise apparently Honda never clear coated my white car. Budman3, that truck cleaned up really well with the Klasse. Thanks for all your help. I appreciate it very much.

Re: Please help me....what's wrong with my paint and how can I fix it?

first off.. i would like to welcome you to AGO and congratulate you on finding your way here..Budman3 has has provided some good answers for you but other then the car being single staged paint we don't know why or what is causing the dirty appearance which appears to be some severe streaking down the paint..

other then budmans3 advice the only thing i can come up with which appears to some improper washing habits..if you have hard water or using harsh soaps on hot panels or washing directly in the sun the soap will dry before your final rinse leaving streaks down the panels of your car using a good AIO by hand and a foam applicator should easily remove the streaks..

Hi joe.p and thanks for the info. I usually take my car to a local car wash and have the works done to it as far as undercarriage and polish, etc. I have done a regular wash with no extra's once. Usually the car comes out and they dry it right there. I didn't think you'd be able to notice the streakin in the pics but I guess you can which is great b/c that's what I was hoping everyone would see after I posted the pics.

So you don't think doing a cleaner wax (Klasse) and following up with a polish/wax afterwards would help this? I look forward to hearing your response. Thank you.

Hi trish,i don't have much experience with OTC wax/cleaners i do think budman offered a nice product for the task at hand..you can give a OTC cleaner such as meguiars a try then let us know the results..if all fails give KAIO a try

Re: Please help me....what's wrong with my paint and how can I fix it?

I want to thank all of you for your input and suggestions. I greatly appreciate it. To be honest with you, I did not order any of the products mentioned as we really want to detail my car this weekend. Therefore, I went to the store and picked up Liquid Glass Polisher. From what I've read on here and many other forums, it seems like a lot of people are not big fans of this stuff since years have gone bye and there is so much other stuff out there that may be better. I picked up Liquid Glass b/c I know back in the 80's and early 90's this stuff was supposed to be the best stuff and it is readily available to me at a local Autozone store. This is what our plan is to detail my car: Wash the car with dawn to remove all old wax (although it seems there's none on the car), clean the car with Mother's Precleaner Wax, apply Liquid glass after the precleaner. Do you think that after we apply Liquid Glass we should use another wax or sealant? If so, can you please recommend one that I may be able to find in a local store? I read on another forum about applying something called Collinite or Souveran but I don't think those are readily available to me and would this stuff even stick to the liquid glass? Also, if you are not a fan of Mother's PreCleaner, would you recommend another one such as something by Meguiar's? Thank you so much for all your help. I greatly appreciate it.

trishy - Good luck with your detail. Now may be a good time to purchase the AIO, so if the products you pick up at Autozone don't work out, you'll have the stuff you need for next weekend. I'm new on this forum too, and one thing I can say, the advice I've been given has been spot on! The members here REALLY know their stuff.
