    Truck Running Boards Restore

The running boards and bumper step on my truck are beginning to need something beyond a good washing. I use Meguiar's Black for other trim but I need something for the running boards and rear bumper step That will bring back the black but isn't slick.

My neighbor recommended Forever Black dye but I want to hear what you have to say. I don't mind periodic maintenance.

Forever black may work but be careful not to get it on anything else because it does not come off easy. Here is a link to the best compare I have seen for black trim. Trim Restorer Showdown - Round 2 (Long and Pic heavy) - Autopia Forums - Auto Detailing & Car Care Discussion Forum If you have the forever black give it a try but like I said take your time and make sure you only put it where you want it.

    Re: Truck Running Boards Restore

I just detailed an Armada with the black plastic crossgroove on the bumper and running boards. Bumper was really faded and oxidized looking. Running boards weren't quite as bad. I cleaned with Megs APC 1:4. Then applied 2 coats of BF Total Trim and Tire Sealant. Came out great and wasn't slippery once cured. This was the first time I used it, so no clue on the longevity yet. He's a good friend, so we hang out a few times a month, so I'll be able to keep tabs on it.

I'll look over some of these products. I watched a youtube video about Forever Black. Looks like some good stuff but I don't believe my running boards are so bad as to need such a treatment.

I try to post some pictures tomorrow.

Plasti dip worked on my truck. Not a detail product but just throwing that out there. Just put on like 6-8 coats and it's still holding up after 6 months. The good thing is if you don't like it you can just peel it off.

    Allen,
Here are three photos, two of the running board and one of the bumper step. The bumper step is faded a bit more than the pic suggests. The first two are of the driver side running board.
