Brake dust/ iron particles on chrome plated plastic..

A friend let his front brake pads go too long and started to put crazy amounts of iron particles on his wheels , paint, etc. I got him the iron x for the paint and the wheels, but iron x says not to use on chrome plated plastic. His center caps are not terrible looking, but want to get them cleaned up. What would be the best method for getting the iron particles off of them?

Auto Finesse Iron Out or CarPro Trix?

Clay would be safest to try first
