SS Paint - Megs #7 after correction?

Got a question for the fellows knowledgeable about single stage paints. I have a Miata that I've been fooling with on a part time basis and recently used my GG6 w/ Machine Polish 3 to clean up the trunk. It looks pretty good for a newbie! Not had time yet to do the hood and the paint is starting to show its age here. I had picked up an older bottle of Megs Deep Crystal Polish, which I think is essentially #7 in a consumer bottle if memory serves. Made a pretty big difference on the hood but none I could see on the trunk. Does correcting the paint eliminate the need/benefit of #7? I have seen Mike's post on the gold Lincoln he brought back to life with #7 but I don't remember if he did any correction. My apologies for being long winded!
