Solution Finish Review Durability in Extreme Conditions

Hello everyone, today I wanted to try an experiment. I wanted to see how well Solution Finish would work in pretty extreme conditions.

What do I mean by extreme conditions? (glad you asked)
  • No preperation was done. No cleaning. No detail spray. Nada
  • Not only the above, but Solution Finish was applied on top of old wax stains.
  • No extra care will be given to treated surfaces.
  • Florida sun, heat, and rain.
  • Applicator was a cheap microfiber applicator from Walmart.

The big thing here was that there was no prep and it went over the wax stains. I did NOT wash my car (you will be able to tell in the pictures :P), nor did I clean in any way the trim.

I also applied the Solution Finish ON TOP of old wax stains from when I was more of a newbie at washing and waxing.

So... let's see how long this lasts. At 30 dollars an ounce, I will be disappointed if it doesn't last 4 to 6 months, regardless of the fact that it was applied in extreme conditions.

Application was done with a circular microfiber cheap piece of junk from walmart.

We shall see the results in the coming months. I will update.

Note: Please ignore the damage to the bumper, I bought my car used, and someone apparently didn't have a big enough garage

Starting condition:

Only used it on the bottom grill. Applied on right, not applied on left.

Not sure how it will hold up without proper prep work. With proper prep it's a great product from what I've seen. I'm only into my testing 1 week so I can't comment yet.

I'm not sure either, that's why it's extreme conditions Most people would normally prep it well, but I would like to see what the limits of this product are with no prep Thanks for looking!

This should be good. I bought this stuff to use on some smooth black plastic and it washed right off. I did all the prep, even took the parts off and scrubbed them in alcohol solution and blew them dry.

Even though the product isn't labeled this way, I'm thinking the plastic needs some texture to it for the product to hold up. Unfortunately, I don't have any plastic like that that needs restoring. Looking forward to your results.

Interesting results. If true, I guess I'm lucky to have textured plastic. I do think that smooth plastic looks way better though.

I can't see how this test will show the true ability or value of the product. You didn't follow any of the recommended prep steps and still want to see 4-6 months from it? To me that like not washing a dirty, trashed car and then applying a wax and expecting the finish to come out perfect and be durable as well.

I look forward to how this test progresses, but like I said IMO it will not be a realistic picture of the product.

It's really not to see the true value. It's just to settle my curiosity. If this fails, I will try again properly prepped and updated.

Hypothetical situation: I find that it lasted 2 months. Properly prepped it lasted 2 and 1/2 months. Wouldn't it be cool to know that it lasts almost the same amount of time not prepped as prepped?

And after reading online how almost nothing works, I lowered my expectation. If I see 2-3 months out of this product with no prep, I will continue buying it. Hopefully then, with proper prep, it will last a very long time. Still 30 dollars for one ounce of product is very expensive!

I guess after Opticoating my car and it being permanent, everything just seems... well substandard if it doesn't last for an outrageous amount of time lol

Re: Solution Finish Review Durability in Extreme Conditions

I'm very impressed with Solution Finish. I like the face that it's black right out of the bottle and durability in my case is 5 months...

Nice review Roshan...

This I can agree with... I like the thought out plan.
