Thanks, I hope I got some people real curious. I know I'm generally a very curious guy by nature, so I can't wait to update the results every week or two

Wonder how this compares to the offering by 3M Bondo for $9.99?

Hmmm might make a good Thrifty vs Fifty thread. I also am wondering about Chemical Guys Gel Black Forever Trim and Tire as I have seen people recommend that.

Both could go against Solution Finish as a Thrifty option. Although, that would have to be a thread and not a video as it would be over a long period of time.

Interesting ideas

-I'm generally a very curious guy by nature, also!!

-Which has caused me to be real curious of your:
"Curious(<<odd)-Solution Finish-Experiment".

-So...After carefully reading through your postings regarding this matter
(with an open-mindness it deserved)...

-I have concluded that this is a "skewed-experiment", in so many ways, that it has:

'Fail'
written all over it.

If it fails, I will have learned something. By learning something, it has not failed my curiosity.

As I said before, this is not a true test of the potential of the product. This is just to see what this product can do with no prep.

Re: Solution Finish Review Durability in Extreme Conditions

In my case it lasted 4 days with prep on the back step pad of a Toyota Sienna. 303 buffed in with a rotary lasted 3 weeks.

Is your trim smooth or textured?

Smooth and it is not a hard plastic. Kind of a cross maybe of plastic and rubber since it is a step pad ?. I have given up on it for now and it is completely gray again. I have tried UTTG, Dlux, 303 and DG 253. Surprisingly 303 and DG outlasted the pricey stuff.

Even though the product isn't labeled this way, I'm thinking the plastic needs some texture to it for the product to hold up. Unfortunately, I don't have any plastic like that that needs restoring. Looking forward to your results.

I asked you because I noticed the only other person that also had problems with SF had SMOOTH plastic.

Maybe Solution Finish doesn't work well on smooth plastic??

Per your thread-starter title (w/my hightlighting):

Re: "Solution Finish Review Durability in Extreme Conditions"

Is one of the reasons for my posting:

Because I personally don't 'see' the "Extreme Conditions" you set forth in your below postings:

  • No preperation was done. No cleaning. No detail spray. Nada
  • Not only the above, but Solution Finish was applied on top of old wax stains.
  • No extra care will be given to treated surfaces.
  • Florida sun, heat, and rain.
  • Applicator was a cheap microfiber applicator from Walmart.

The big thing here was that there was no prep and it went over the wax stains.

I also applied the Solution Finish ON TOP of old wax stains from when I was more of a newbie at washing and waxing.
-You seem to be putting a lot of stress on "wax-factors" as being one of the "extreme conditions".

-But...As I was alluding to earlier: IMHO...Wax(es)?: Not an "extreme condition"...

-Why do I think so?

TO WIT:

-As such:
Wax(es), or any of the other 'uncleaned'-contaminates that were existant:
pre-Solution Finish application...then, shouldn’t be too problematic for Solution Finish to: "Cut through".

-One other "extreme condition" you state is:

under the Sun(<<pun?)...including Solution Finish.

You must also think so as well:

"under the proverbial bushel"?

Let There Be Light!! I say.

I concede:
-Yes!...Just as the Curies set up their own experiment and its parameters...
This your experiment.

But whereas their experimentation was into: "the unknown"; yours, on the otherhand, has known-parameters
that you have either overlooked or blatantly left out of the equation.

Therefore...
Just as the Curies, themselves, were interred prematurely...
...(though their discoveries live on even 'til today!)...

I would not be predisposed of having your experiment reach a similar fate.

JMHO...
