Downside of leaving polishing oils on car?

As the subject says, what is the downside to leaving polishing oils on the car after a polish job? From what I've read the main reason for removing them is to see the actual level of correction accomplished but are there other reasons? Ive completed the horizontal surfaces on my car and used ultimate compound followed by ultimate polish and topped with a sealant with no IPA wipedown anywhere in the process (should have read more before starting ). Any issues I'm going to see as a failure to do an IPA wipedown?

Most people on forums say "yes".

But then.... most, (not all but most), people on detailing discussion forums wash, polish and wax their cars often enough that the paint always has more than adequate protection and attention.

    Read what I wrote here,

Miscible and Immiscible - Wax and Paint Sealant Bonding

I've been talking about the highly emotional topic of bonding for so long, my guess is the topic will never go away.

Re: Downside of leaving polishing oils on car?

Sort of related to this thread....

What are some of the after-polish cleaning options? Are there machine-applied or wipe-on products? I see references to "paint cleaner" but they are machine applied and seem to behave like final polishing products. And then I see stuff like CarPro Eraser and that kind of product seems to make more sense if you've already got a polished surface.

    What's the best choice?
