Red face Topping Cquarts with OptiCoat???

How you doing guys, yes, I've been MIA for a while, work/life keeping me busy but things are good...

So, back during the Xmas sells, I picked up some CQ and some OC 2.0, and ever since then I've been debating on witch to use, and if I wanted to, since this are not used just like regular wax, I didn't want to have to remove it by buffer... Finally, I went ahead and tried the CQ, my main challenge was to be able to tell how much I was was applying, and when I had applied already due to the color of my Jeep, on order to try to make sure I cover every thing I ended up doing two coats (Since it was a bit late when I finished the first, I did the other one the next day).

Now, I remember this is a picture hungry group, so here are a couple (Sorry for the iPhone pics, I didn't feel like getting the big camera out, but I should be going out later, and I will try to get some more pic under the sun).

I do understand that the best thing to put over CQ is reload, and I'm gonna be getting some on my next order, but since I finish this I've been wondering, what about adding some OC 2.0 on top? I'm sure someone here must have tried that before. Will that be a total waste?

Re: Topping Cquarts with OptiCoat???

Yep sure will be a waste of good product and money from everything I've read ever about applying OC. If having a very small amount of wax left over can cause OC to fail then having a coat of CQ is a no brainer. Here's a couple of posts on the problems caused by not having squeeky clean paint. There are plenty more if you do a search.

Strange OptiCoat happening

Opti-coat 2.0!!!!

Re: Topping Cquarts with OptiCoat???

I would wait and use Reload on the CQ. But, you could always do a test spot (small area). I doubt the OC would last very long on CQ.

I have topped CQ with waxes and booster sprays (WGSS, HV7, etc) with no problems....as far as looks. Durability is not a big concern for me.

LOL... Oh well... I might end up testing the OC on my wife's toyota, ( I just would hate putting that on a lease).

Re: Topping Cquarts with OptiCoat???

OC needs to be applied to bare paint, otherwise it will wear off with the product underneath it if not sooner.
