Must just be me but I like the Can Am body kit on this Vette with the turbine style wheels, kind of has a Batmobile/A-Team look to it.
One thing for sure, the owner loves his Corvette and loves it even more now that the swirls are gone and the flake dances in the sun...

Me too... thought about giving my new truck project the Batmobile theme, kind of like my buddy Jay gave his Blazer the Yenko theme...

Thanks Dave...
We'll probably see the same owner's 1970 BBC Chevy Truck sometime in the near future for a little TLC

Re: Making the Metallic Flake Pop! - Popping versus Muting
Hi Mike! I just wanted to share how in your book "The Art of Detailing" on page 78, you have a quote - "Use the least aggressive product to get the job done". Soon after you go on to describe how it's not just the liquid paint care products but includes everything that touches the paint to include pads.
Not that the following pictures compare to your extreme makeover shots, but keeping with the least aggressive theme I turned this:
Into this:
simply by using Duragloss #501 Marine/RV Polish on a Lake Country 5.5" low profile Crimson hydro-tech pad.
If a person is looking to pick up more tips and techniques, I highly recommend picking up a copy of "Mike Phillips' - The Art of Detailing". It is packed full of info and well worth the asking price, considering you can keep it handy and reference it at anytime without straying too far from the job.

Re: Making the Metallic Flake Pop! - Popping versus Muting
Awesome job, like always.
My question is, how do you polish around the raised areas. That Corvette hood, for example has all kinds of scoops and lines and creases. Do you hit these areas by hand so as to be careful? Or can you machine polish them on a low setting?
I've tried taping some areas like this before, and when I remove the tape it's like a "before/after" because these areas didn't get machine polished like the areas around them. Same issue when I try to tape over factory pinstriping...

Correct. I wanted to point this out because a lot of people think only in terms of the liquid products but in fact, anything that touches the paint can affect the aggressiveness or non-aggressiveness of the process.
Actually this also includes,
Tool choice
Technique
