    What is your favorite Clay?

The only clay I have ever used is Meguiars, but I used up what I had left this weekend and it is time to get more. So before I just add the Meguiars to my next cart I wanted some opinions on your favorite clay to use. Thanks

Whatever is cheapest. Someone else probably knows more than me, but I can't really tell much of a difference between the various clays I've used.

When you say "before I just add the Meguiar's to my cart"--which Meguiar's? AG sells 3 Meg's clays, the white Smooth Surface, which is an ultra-fine, the blue C2000, which is a medium, and the red C2100, which is an aggressive clay.

And although many clays may be very similar, there certainly are differences between many.

It really depends on the vehicle and my needs.

    Ultra fine: Sonus Green/Gray

    Medium: Clay Magic Blue

    Aggressive: Clay Magic Red.

So, based on the amount of contaminants present on the paint changes the type of clay you should use?

Amount and type--that's the whole point of different grades of clay. You'd use an aggressive clay for paint overspray or heavy tar, a medium clay for periodic claying or a car that doesn't get detailed all the time, and an ultrafine clay for the typical member here, whose paint is frequently maintained.

The more aggressive the clay, the more potential for marring it has (clay has abrasives in it), so you kind of follow the "least aggressive method first" guideline.

Re: What is your favorite Clay?

Ultima clay block is my favorite clay product, but some people have said they get excessive marring with it. honestly if I'm clayying I'm at least doing a paint cleaner after it, and if the paint is soft enough that the block is marring it, it should be soft enough that paint cleaner will clear it up for the most part.

That said if I need to get more aggressive I like the clay magic red, or the Ricardo offering (can't remember the color of the top of my head)

My favorite Clay is Aiken. Ok, not really. Setec has hit the pervibial nail on the head. Sage advice.
