    Re: Brake rotor rust

Here is advice from members on here awhile ago. The rust could be caused by a caustic (probably acidic) wheel cleaner the dealer was using (acid-steel in brake dust=rust). I had a lot when my car was new. After using a PH balanced wheel cleaner for less than a month no more rust, and haven't seen it since. I'm also in a fairly dry climate.

That's a very possible problem with the wheel cleaner. After cleaning them today I hope to not see the rust return unless regular washing of course.

Now I just need to find time to get all these holograms out that the dealer put in

    Re: Brake rotor rust

I think we could be experiencing the same problem. I have read its common on VW's but i hate having this rust on there after spending hours perfecting my car! After you used steel wool, did it come back after it was wet again? Here is what I deal with everytime I get my tires wet...

as you can see from the gap it never fully goes away, even after driving a few days. so annoying!
