Cyclo Polisher Detail

With all the recent talk about the Cyclo I decide to send my 9 year old unit back to get some minor repairs done. The Cyclo polisher was my first polisher before moving into a rotary. Here are some pics of myself using the Cyclo and some other products.

Nice reveiw with pics. Just when you think we have clean surface to work with along comes the CB,amazed with the amount of contanimation pulled from a well kept car.

So any thoughts on the cyco vs your rotorary?

The XMT Pad Conditioner Allow the pad to stay moist for a longer time, so i didn't have to use too much of the products.
The car was in fair shape, up close it had a lot of contaminants and water spots and some minor to moderate swirls specially on the trunk. This is typical for a car that resides by the beach.


Light scratches on the trunk

The trunk of the vehicle had some light scratches were the owner had placed some groceries.


I was able to remove the light scratches with the cyclo polisher- a light cutting pad and the XMT #2.

Overall I'm very happy with the performance of the polisher, thats why its been around for so long. The only thing is that its not a variable speed so I kept trying to reach for the variable speed dial since i normally use my Makita or porter cable.

I still prefer my Makita 9227 for the tough jobs, but I will be using my Cyclo more often now that it is fixed.

The new XMT looks to have removed the marring from the trunk.Do you think the XMT may serve to maintain a newer finish or can it hold upto a semi swirled car. BTW, AG has some nice Cyclos 10% off with your forum Discount .

One more question. Some rotorary user's claim to get some skipping/hopping with their pads,do think the pad conditioner could help eliminate this by providing a better lubricated pad.

Great write up and pics Jason! Just received my XMT "Winner's Kit" today and ordered the Cyclo Mega Polisher kit...I'll probably wait and try the kit items out with the Cyclo and give you folks a decent write-up + pics.

The XMT will help with both to maintain, remove swirls and light scratches. It does help when you have the right tool to do the job, I think the Porter Cable would have performed just as well.

Why kind of pads are they using with the rotary?

I think they were LC 7.5. I read the thread on another forum. I have the replacement LC 7.5 pads you sent me and i havent had this experience. I have only tried the polishing pad as of now..
