Washing after waxing

I had a detailer tell me to wait for two weeks after waxing to use soap when washing my car... can this be right? He suggests rinsing with clear water and using a QD if needed.

Re: Washing after waxing

Never heard of waiting 2 weeks before washing. Is he recommending a wax?

Re: Washing after waxing

brand new paint - you can wax (pure wax, no cleaners)...Don't use a sealant for the first couple of months though...

Re: Washing after waxing

That process would scare me as "clear water" to me just isn't enough to make sure all the dirt is off the car, especially after two weeks Then rub on a QD. What happens to all the missed dirt, is that being rubbed too? Sounds pretty swirly to me

Re: Washing after waxing

wash often and consider using the same products (wax, sealants) wash in order to preserve the finish, as they are usually designed to work best together.

Re: Washing after waxing

Never heard of it. I would wait at least a day for the wax to cure, but after that, it is safe to wash.
