Towels, where to start?

So I noticed alot of you guys like to be in the 300-350 GSM range, however the very popular Korean Eagle Edgeless towels at 480 GSM. So what gives? I'm mainly looking for a towel to apply spray wax with after a wash.

Also, any opinions of these edgeless towels? Noticed the GSM isn't listed.

Last year I bought some Gold Plush Jr's (380 gsm) for removing wax and polish, and Super Plush Jr's (600 gsm) for quick detailers and spray wax. There were occasions when my "ideal" towels for the task was dirty and had to use the other. Through this I learned 2 things. First, is that the Super Plush towels bunched up very easily when removing wax and made that process more difficult. And second, is that the Gold Plush towels are plenty soft for QD/spray wax in addition to being great at removing wax, they're great all around. For that reason I think I'll be sticking to the Gold Plush towels from all further paint duties. As mentioned above, I already bought more!

the thicker the towel the less bite it will have, the more it will roll and bunch as you mentioned, as well as being more prone to linting. the gold plushes (or any quality towel in the 350-400gm range) are great and as long as you wash/dry them correctly they should last quite a while. the more the better...

If I were starting up again - there is a good chance I'd start with Megs Supreme Shine towels.

I hear ya. Supreme Shine towels are good rags. I have 24. This goes back to my experience with the crimson and its siblings; basic rag yet 'Swiss Army' useful. Not great at everything, but good for many things. The lower gsm requires finesse, but in a good way that it trains you to not be so heavy handed - works well for soft Suby paint I deal with.

Game - The crimson and other available colors are 300gsm.

they are not bad, but after a few uses they lose their softness/plushness and quickly become demoted to other less important tasks...

They are great for compound, polish, and wax removal. But I agree they do start to deteriorate rather quickly compared to other quality chinese microfiber towels. They are notorious for leaving behind lint after just a single wash.
