I've had a Rupes since they were brought in. Never any problems and I still have one as my backup to the boss 15. I find the Griots to be a more comfortable tool to use and they want you to adapt it to your needs. The warranty is second to none. You can't go wrong with either one but I would go with Griots.

I fought that same battle & the Boss won. I'm waiting for it to arrive & try it out. Their warranty was one of the points that helped sway me in that direction. I do own Rupes gen 1-21,a mini & an Ibrid & like them all. The Boss system was not out when I bought the 21 or I might have gone that route.

Boss has more power, more comfortable, better warranty, no soft start feature, less likely to stall
if you wont a long throw with the most power...Mark II

    Have you seen my review?
Review: Griot's Garage Boss 21 Long Throw Polisher - Comparison To Rupes 21ES

Although I'm comparing the 21mm throw polishers, the Rupes Legacy vs Griot's BOSS comparison should help you out.

    Hope my review helps.

I own the Rupes Mark 1 15ES for about a year now. It has been a great machine. I used a Porter Cable 7424 for about 10 years before upgrading. I detailed about 10 cars last summer and I found
the Rupes very easy to operate. No issues with stalling or not enough power ever came into play. I personally like the soft start feature as a way to ease into a panel correction.
I have used the Griot's boss machine as well and they are very good to be sure. They certainly did their
homework along with other companies who have copied the Rupes designs. The balance and quality of the Rupes is outstanding. I do not worry about the warranty aspect of the Rupes, as they have stood by
their products on this website when issues have come up. Either machine would be a great new addition to you.

Your posts are all over the show, your minds running wild. As I stated in response to your question in another thread, you mentioned you don't do this for a living and already own a GG6. Fit a 5" bp on the GG6 preferably one with cooling holes and get yourself LC ThinPro's or Boss pads and you have a formidable machine. If you then still find you need more correction, don't bother with the two options you asking about in this thread. Get a Boss 21 or better yet a Rupes 21 MKII if budget permits. I don't see the point in marginal improvements, if you gona upgrade do it properly.

Re: rupes original bigfoot 15 vs griots boss 15

The rupes 15es legacy vs the boss 15 there is no comparison power wise.

The boss 15 has a substantial more amount of power than the rupes 15.

However it is cheaper so you have to decide what's best for you.

If you have a ton of pads, polishes, and just need a machine that's a different story.

The rupes 15es really lacks in the power department, at speed 6 it's similar to speed 3.5 on the boss.
