Re: Does Meguiars make any bad products?
Apparently Meg's thought D114 wasn't very good
I hate the smell of Ultimate Protectant and Quik Interior Detailer... Does that count as a bad product?

Ultimate Interior Detailer. Can't remember why exactly but do remember after using it just thinking "Meh...that didn't turn out like I thought".

Sales said it wasn't good lol.
Perhaps you got one of the bad batches of QID. I like it. I could not stand the scent of Adams interior detailer.

I felt the same about it as well. Wasn't enough to keep me from using the regular QID.
I do like the Mirror Bright wheel cleaner but the clinging ability is zilch. Keeps me from buying it again. Same goes for the mirror bright shampoo. It's good but not enough to impress me over Gold Class, Shampoo Plus or Hyper Wash.

Meguiars Ultimate Black Trim and Plastic Restorer along with the Trim Sponges are terrible. The only other Meguiars product I use is D108 and it does an OK job - I wouldn't buy it again though.

Ultimate Black isnt that great either.
I'm almost 100% Meguiar's.
I've dwindled down my options considerably, and it's nice to have a line of high performing products from one manufacturer.
My first experience was with the Deep Crystal System in spring of 1996, followed by Gold Class wax, and Clear Coat Body Scrub. More was to follow in the next three years.
Since being more active here on the forum, I've been exposed to, purchased, tested, and used other brands of products in the field. My expectations on these other products was probably unreasonable as I didn't find them to significantly, or marginally out perform the Meguiar's I had been using.
However, to answer the question, I didn't particularly care for the NXT Spray Wax either. Ultimate Quik Wax was MUCH easier to use.

Meg's is like a good 'hole in the wall' Chinese restaurant - lots of good stuff & very affordable. Even the so-so offering is still not too bad.
And like such a place; they tend to pull dishes from you without warning...

Sales people always have to ruin my day lol. At work and apparently when detailing.
It very well could be a bad batch. Maybe I'll pick up another gallon and see if it's better. Funny that you don't like the scent of Adam's. Generally we agree on products haha.

Great analogy, Brutal.
I've never used anything from Meg's and thought "Well that sucked!". Yes, Some of their OTC stuff leaves a bit to be desired to us here on this forum dedicated to detailing. But to thousands of other guys & girls out there, any product that makes a difference and/or cleans and improves the look of their ride to their own eye is more than enough. Meg's is a smart and far-reaching company.
That being said, I still have two go-to Meg's products after trying many others.
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.
