A neighbor of mine has a 72 or 73 Ford Mustang he wants me to detail 1 of these days and I'm not quite certain which products to use on the vinyl top and also to clean the original vinyl/leather seats.

I imagine Meguiars Ultimate Protectant would substitute fine in place of the 303 Protectant?

I bought a bottle from autozone for $18 I believe. Used it on the exterior trim and the product is utter crap IMO. Streaky, doesn't want to stay on trims. Never used it again.

Same as most have said for me also, Interior only plastics and vinyls and fake "Leathers". Tried on my vinyl boat seats and looks great but gone at first sign of dew or rain same goes for exterior of the car. moving on to trying polymer sealants on exterior and if i find one I love I will try there interior sealant product also.

I use the 303 cleaner prior to the protectant. Hard to say how long the protectant lasts.

I normally reapply about once every two months or so, but my cars stay in the garage. They don't stay outside much anymore. Unfortunately, I only put about 500 miles on each this summer.

Hmm so your Cutlass is a garage queen, nice. So is that Mustang, but I'd really like to apply something to it that'll go above and beyond, especially when it comes to longevity.

Looks like I'll have to look beyond spray protectants. I keep thinking about the TW Endura Trim Coat or something similar that can be used on a vinyl top such as that.
My gut tells me the Endura wouldn't be safe to use on a vinyl top.

Black plastic exterior trim -- bumpers --- weatherstripping -- headlights -- front grill --- wheels wells --- most interior plastic --- exterior mirrors

Same here. Plus, it never lasted very long on my tires.

Re: What do you use 303 Aerospace Protectant for?

I am thinking about trying Blackfire Total Trim and Tire Sealant. I have tried it on various trim, and well...tires, with good luck. Haven't tried it on the top, but I don't see why it wouldn't work well. It looks good and has good longevity on everything other place I have used it.

Yeah, both the 73 and 77 are garage queens now. I get them out to drive them around as much as I can, but life gets in the way...
