    Dry Ice and Fogging??????

Ok, I am not doing this, but I saw a guy on his detailing site use dry ice to have fog "roll down" a panel of a vehicle he was working on.... um, what the ef??????

What is the purpose of this?

    Re: Dry Ice and Fogging??????

I have read an article about working on self-healing paint that used refrigerated compounds and ice to cool the panel. The idea being that the lower temps do not allow the self-healing function to happen and allow for accurate polishing of the paint.

I've used dry ice to remove sound deadening from panels but not yet found a use for it detailing.

Paul Dalton uses dry ice injected to clean interiors and other areas. It is almost like medium blasting except it does not hurt the paint.

Here he is cleaning an engine with it.

DetailKitty, you beat me to it. You can go on the Polarjet site and it actually shows the smaller version is designed for vehicles.

Apparently it is very effective and paint safe.

The principle of sublimation works to "explode" dirt and grime off of surfaces.

The engine cleaning video is particularly interesting.

The system is expensive and requires dry ice for operation.
