    Auto dimming side mirrors

I have some bad water spots on my side mirrors. Usually I would just use water spot remover but the mirrors are auto dimming and I’m not sure if it will harm them are not. Does anyone have experience with this situation?

Kind of hard to tell from the picture but there is almost a tint to them.

    The car is a 2008 BMW 135i

Try vinegar on a cotton wash cloth. If that doesn't work try a compound like Meguiar's Ultimate Compound using a cotton applicator

I don't see where either of these processes could harm your mirrors, but work a small section to see the effects just in case

    Sage advice Flash

The technology is called electrochromics, which applies electricity in order to tint glass through a low-voltage power supply. The electricity moves through an electrochromic gel placed between two pieces of glass during manufacturing, which have been treated with an electrically conductive coating.

If in doubt, then email/phone your concerns to: Contact | Gentex
Maybe your mirrors were made by them.

Gentex pioneered the development of these mirrors at the commercial level, and as of 2009. has been the leading supplier of auto dimming mirrors to the automotive industry for over 20 years
