    Rubber Slag from tires

    Hey all...
I just got off of the phone with a client and have a question for ya...

He is a member of the BMWCCA and loves to do track days... He has 4 Bimmers and 2 of them are "Track Felons" (that is what he calls them cause they assault the asphalt... lol...). The Bimmers in his stable are:

2006 MZ4 (street/track car with LOTS of go fast goodies)
    1998 M3 (same as MZ4)
1958 507 (AKA Z07 and not driven but about 100 miles a year)
2002 Z8 (not driven much at all)

The question that he posed to me that we chatted about for 20 or so min is... "Is there any kind of protectant/wax/coating/etc that can be put behind the wheels on the track cars that will prevent the molten rubber from the tires from etching into the car and becoming glue that would also aid in the removal ease?"

I know from experience that "Rubber Slag" is a nightmare to remove and I personally have tried at least 20 different wax/sealants/coatings to prevent this... They all seem to work fairly well for the first lap or two but never past that...

    Any suggestions?

the obvious ones would be Gtechniq, Cquartz, and Opticoat but no idea how they would react with molten rubber on them
I told my wife that a husband is like a fine wine; he gets better with age. The next day, she locked me in the cellar.

Cquartz and Opticoat have been tried with ok success but after 2 track days we have found that they seem to start failing...

Tell him to put saran wrap on the fenders before he heads out. There are also some rubberized magnetic products sold called "fender buddies" that can be used.

He has done the painters tape before but he said he doesn't like the look of that... (He is very picky obviously) the "fender buddies" would work except for the bumper being plastic so no magnetics there...

I would assume that this stuff could be gotten from some place like Summit or Jegs?

Cool I will give that a shot...

Any other products that would be recommended would be great...

On my Z3 I have clear bra but that stuff tends to "scorch" and discolor when the "slag" hits it...
