Velcro adhesive on my center console
The latch to my center console was broken by the previous owner of my car. Instead of replacing the latch he/she decided to get velcro strips and fix it that way. Well, now that it's my car I'm not having any of that. I replaced the latch and removed the velcro strips. Now, I have adhesive stuck on the upholstery of the console. Every time I open it I have to pull on the lid with some force to open it. The adhesive has been on there for so long that it's all matted down where there's adhesive. I already tried OPC and a steamer but it didn't help enough. Any suggestions to loosen that adhesive without ruining the upholstery?

How long did you let the OPC dwell? If it is real bad you may need to leave it for quite a bit to break down the nasty. Repeated applications may be necessary so be patient with it. Hard to believe the steam didn't do anything, must be some nasty adhesive.

It is tough stuff. I've used IPA to some extent. Another time, just covered it up with baby powder so its not so sticky.

It's not that the steam and OPC didn't do anything, it's just that it didn't do enough. Perhaps it's like you said, repeated applications may be necessary.

I don't own a camera and I don't have a way to connect my cell phone to my computer so unfortunately I don't have any pictures. The underside of the lid of my console is basically the same material as your average everyday car seat.

You could take a picture with your phone, and then send it to an email address. Then just upload it from there.

3M Adhesive Remover or Laquer Thinner will get the gook off. There may still be a stain left behind depending on how long it has been that way
Good luck

I second the advice of 3M Adhesive Remover... that stuff is indispensable for jobs like this.

I do have some 3M Adhesive remover, I was just afraid of using it on upholstery. You guys think that'll be okay?
