How do you use steel wool?
I have heard to use steel wool on oxidized metal.
I have searched AGO and have not found any steps to take on this...
1. How do you do this?
2. what kind of steel wool do you use?
3. What cleaning agent is recommended.
4. What polish is recommended?
for knowledge here

Re: How do you use steel wool?
I use #0000 Steel wool on exhaust tips or any type of aluminum.I've used it with 105/205 .I don't think there is a how too do on using steel wool .The 0000 is the finest and #0 is the coarse. So depending on what you are trying to clean and what type of metal will determine what steel wool to use.I also was informed that steel wool comes in #1-2-3-4 by another member .

I used #0000 Steel wool along with P21s Polishing Soap on my Vipers Stainless Steel exhaust yesterday.

You can get #0000 steel wool at Home Depot or Lowes. On my exhaust tips I finished it off with Collinite No. 850 Metal Wax by hand (didn't do the whole exhaust). I do use a Mother's Powerball on some of my wheels.

Has anyone used the pinnacle safety scrub instead of steel wool or would that not be strong enough to clean oxidation off of metal?

I use #00. I've used it on glass inside and outside on the '99 Honda Accord. I've also used it on the outside windows of my '08 Mazda 3s.

Re: How do you use steel wool?
I use P21S Finish Restorer on my Exhaust tip and muffler on its own by applying it with a microfiber towel, and then buffing it off. It works great for me. I assume I could get even better results with steel wool #0000

Sparkie,
You used 000, correct? I might use 00 on my mothers 2003 Ford Explorers exhaust this weekend to check it out.
