    Waxing a Wrapped Vehicle

    Morning Mike,
Its been a while, I hope all is well. I have a customer who recently wrapped an RV. Completely wrapped the whole thing. He wants us to wax it. I am under the impression that this would be a waste of his money. Is wax beneficial to a vinyl wrap in protecting from sun and elements, and if so, is there a special product designed to do so.
    Thank you,
    Dave

    Hi Dave,

Is the wrap glossy or matte?

I'd recommend going with Optimum Spray Wax.

It's the only wax that I know of that has been tested and proved to provide UV protection. Other products might in fact provide UV protection, it's just this product

See post #14 in my article here,

    Beginning Clearcoat Failure

This is an easy to use spray-on, wipe-off wax. IF like most RV owners, they don't have a building to store their RV inside, then it's going to be exposed to sunlight and over time the UV rays are going to cause fading. It's unavoidable without some sort of covered storage. So the next best thing is a product that contains UV protection.

    On Autogeek.com

    Optimum Car Wax 17 oz

And because there's a LOT of surface area get the one-gallon refill to go with the spray bottle.

    Optimum Car Wax 1-gallon refill

    Hope that helps Dave...

What about washing and protecting a matte wrap? I've not had to deal with this yet but I like to make sure I have the tools just in case

With a vehicle that size, look into CarPro Hydr02. or if you're a rinseless guy, Opti Seal as you dry.
