    Getting ready, but vinyl?

Ok so I finally got all my stuff in and plan on detailing my car Saturday but have some questions, mainly about my vinyl and plasti-dip.

So my question is after my wash when I Clay, do I need to have my vinyl taped off then or clay and then tape? It may be easier for me to ask "what do do with my vinyl and plasti dip through the whole detail process" (wash, clay, compound, polish, and wax). I will be using a random orbital for compound and polish but waxing will be by hand. Attached are some pics:

Stripes on hood, roof, and trunk are vinyl
Blacked out spoiler, tail light bezels, and rear facia is plasti-dip

    Thanks in advance!

Aside from your car soap, I recommend not to touch the vinyl and plasti dip areas. I have clayed vinyl wrap before and didn't have any problems. For plasti dip, it can be removed with all purpose cleaner so keep those away too.

I also would not compound/polish vinyl or plasti dip

So do you normally tape them off before claying, or just try to stay away from the edges?

Tape is your friend. It will save you from making mistakes and make cleanup a breeze. Your end results will mirror your preparation.
